I’d use it in a heartbeat if it was a good price. If it has a certification- we’re all good.
It’s surprising they pay for the Dexos licensing, something amsoil hasn’t been willing to do.nothing wrong with it just isn't priced friendly or regularly available in brick and mortar stores. Meets / Exceeds: API SP, SN Plus, SN, SM, SL, ILSAC GF-6 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40, 10W-30, 20W-50 ILSAC GF-6 B, API SP-Resource Conserving 0W-16 GM Dexos 1 ® Gen 3 0W-20 – License # D335AADG273 5W-30 - License # D335BADG273
This seems like a good product from them - AC Delco used to oxidize in my GMC years ago - theirs stayed clear.Lucas Power Steering Fluid is doing good for me. I've been using it 8 years. So far so good.
If I had a do over, I'd buy Swepco power steering fluid, but Lucas is doing fine. Lucas quieted my power steering compared to the old OEM oil. I don't have any complaints.
So the reason is because Amsoil "isn't willing" to pay for a dexos license? It’s surprising they pay for the Dexos licensing, something amsoil hasn’t been willing to do.
That's the stuff that's junkI’ve used Lucas oil for years, it’s good stuff especially the oil treatment,I put it in everything
A positive for Amsoil not a negative. It’s surprising they pay for the Dexos licensing, something amsoil hasn’t been willing to do.
When you look at what it is, it's not just junk, it's junky junk. That's the stuff that's junk
Couldn't the same be said about STP?I refuse to support Lucas for reasons discussed here often. Don’t like some of their snake oil ingredients, or should I say lack of ingredients.
The last STP Dexos that I bought was made by Amalie …Couldn't the same be said about STP?
STP started out making an oil additive that I've never heard anything good about. I've heard several mechanics warn against using it.
But now STP makes motor oil that many people like. How's that any different than Lucas?

OK, let's say it about STP too thenCouldn't the same be said about STP?

I don't doubt that STP motor oil is good, but STP oil conditioner/thickener product is crap just like with Lucas oil conditioner/thickener product. Hating Lucas (and STP) oil conditioner/thickener product is legit.Amalie makes STP motor oil.
Yes. That ^ was my point. Thank you!OK, let's say it about STP too then
The decision by Lucas to deceive people and make obscene profit from "mouse milk" derived from the cheapest crap they could possibly procure does not preclude us from taking the same view of STP or another company for doing the same. There's plenty of criticism to go around, Lucas doesn't exist in a vacuum.
Yes, for stuff that’s not certified, I wouldn’t trust Lucas, stp, or any other manufacturer unless they have evidence of what exactly is in the product I’m looking for (PEA in fuel system cleaners, for example).I don't doubt that STP motor oil is good, but STP oil conditioner/thickener product is crap just like with Lucas oil conditioner/thickener product. Hating Lucas (and STP) oil conditioner/thickener product is legit.
Hate the specific products you don't like, not the entire company and their other products, some of which are good. You do that with STP. So why not Lucas too?
Yes. That ^ was my point. Thank you!
Nasty oil thickener additives aside... Lucas Power steering fluid has been working well for me for 8+ years. According to tech support at Power Steering Components (PSC) Motorsports (the goto place for power steering upgrade parts for SUVs & 4x4s) they say Swepco makes the best PS fluid, Lucas the 2nd best. I went with Lucas because it was locally available.
So I know Lucas PS fluid is good. I know lots of locals who prefer Lucas red grease over all others. So there's 2 Lucas products I know are excellent.
I have not used Lucas or STP motor oil or diff oil, but I keep an open mind about them because some BITOGers use them and like them.
The only fuel additives I'd (occasionally) use are Chevron, Shell, or Mobil fuel system cleaners. Lucas and/or STP fuel additives may (or may not) be fine. I don't know.
You're working hard on this, I'll give you that.I don't doubt that STP motor oil is good, but STP oil conditioner/thickener product is crap just like with Lucas oil conditioner/thickener product. Hating Lucas (and STP) oil conditioner/thickener product is legit.

Same here. If some entity is disingenuous enough to market anything of such poor quality then that reflects on their overall integrity. I couldn't care less what else they might sell.No doubt that Lucas offers a slew of perfectly serviceable products like power steering fluid, grease, etc. But I'll echo what others have said, that I avoid their brand entirely due to their core products that are deceptive and low quality.
Why give them my grease purchases when other companies that offer nothing but sound products are also selling the type of grease that I need at the same price point?
