Lucas Oil additive

I have been using Lucas oil additive for years and it seems to really help the engine run smoother. My question is whether or not to use it with 100% synthetic oil - specifically Castrol GTX Magnatec 5W30?

Save your money and don’t bother with that additive. A good oil needs no additional additives, and can do more harm than good

No reason to use it. All it does is thicken oil a grade or two. Use thicker like i have. Engines run quieter at hot idle in the summer when they made some noise with thinner oil.

What vehicle/engine/miles do you have and what problem are you trying to improve? The scientific opinion here is that most additives don't/won't/can't do what they claim. 9 times out of 10 a well formulated oil will outperform a mediocre oil with some off-the-shelf additives.

There are a few well regarded additives to help with specific problems though, depending on the need.

Like others have said. Lucas oil only does a few things. Thicken your oil. Dilute the additive package. Lighten your wallet.

Don't feel bad, they have spent millions of dollars in advertising to convince you it's needed.
