I have tried the engine treatment though not at full treat rates.
From the bottle -
LubroMoly MoS2 Anti-friction Engine treatment.
Formulated and proven to provide instant cold start lubrication, cut wear and extend engine life. Lowers fuel consumption, gives smoother engine operation.
Product contains approx. 85% petroleum distillate, approx. 5% mineral oil and approx. 1% Molybdenum sulfide. (What constitutes the remaining 9%?)
Containing only pure, submicronic MoS2 in a suitable engine oil, this is an "oil-insoluable" special additive favored by leading vehicle manufacturers. For best results add to motor oil at every oil change. Contents sufficient for up to 4 quarts of engine oil.
Net Cont. 300ml (10.14 fl. oz.)
end.
People have mentioned around here to those that feel as if they must use additives, that if any shaking is required prior to addition due to settling, to "forget about it". Though this product doesn't say shaking is required, at the end of one bottle I thought I saw what looked like settled moly on the bottom (grayish-green color). I added a little engine oil, shook and poured. It may be a stretch but it looked like the original stuff coming out of the bottle. Left to wonder about the "arteries" of the engine. Pondered also about filter pluging though it is said to be a "submicronic" material.
I bought two bottles with cold start wear reduction in mind. The carrier oil appears to be of a heavier weight than say a 5w30 - perhaps it's a single grade. I haven't done a freezer test to amuse myself. Implications on cold flow performance remains.
My mother's volvo 240 seemed to like it, but then again it did just have an oil change. How much was just "in my head?" [I dont know]
The people at IPD from where I ordered the product seemed to feel the results in their trials (doubt anything scientific), were good enough for them to offer the product to their customers. There also is the section on this site (BITOG), talking about the wonders of moly.
I have stopped using the product in the vehicles I maintain, but have since used some from time to time in the outdoor power equipment. I'm just not sure what it's really doing for me.
Note - I tend to use my vehicles for short distance driving, with rare trips of 100-150 miles. If one is to use this product they may see benefits, but I honestly don't know. I also have yet to do any used oil analysis so for the most part it's all heresay...a mystery.
