Well I thought I had 6qts of ATF +3 for my 99 Cirrus.
After i got the pan off, filter swapped and everything torqued back on.....

I dig into my oil shelf and bring out 6 bottles of castrol import atf. uh oh! (I should actually look at the bottles next time) While I'm sure I could have used these with no issue.. I decided to test out Lubegard's FM and see what happens.
I mustered up a hodge podge of older dexron iii, exxon, a valvoline, shell and a pennzoil hydro-matic dexron ii.
I poured it all in, added around 1oz/qt of the Lubegard black, started the motor up.. drove around the block and checked the stick.. 1qt down! All I had left was the pennzoil dexron 2.. well, it went in! added another ounce of lubegard black, and drove around the block.. let it idle for bit, the level was dead on.
Next day, drove to work with it, it shifted smooth & easy, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, the level was still fine, and everything seems to be good to go!

the last FM i used was lubegard green, converting dexron 3 to Mercon V. That worked very well also.

I got lazy with my Taurus.. sucked out the transmission pan with the suction bottle, got 5qts out of it.. filled it back with 2 qts of valvoline d3, 2qts of pennzoil semi-syn dex3, AND since I was still short.. my only quart of maxlife ATF.
And of course.. Lubegard Red.

It drives very nicely as well!

Go Lubegard!

the transmission angels are with you, lol. I have done the mix and matching with motor oil, but not with transmission fluid, although I use lubegard red, good stuff.

You "solved" the problem BEFORE "verifying" the problem! If you had driven the car without LG for a day and verified extremely bad shifting and then put LG, you would have a convincing story to tell.

Look up 41TE transmission problems.

Its the transmission you have...a transmission notorious for issues with incorrect fluids and ESPECIALLY "upconverted" ATF oils.

It might shift right but have fun with that in the future. I'd never in a thousand years do what you did to a 41TE, bad fluid killed those transmissions on a daily basis before it became widely known to /ONLY/ use ATF+4.

If you wanna trust LubeGard to magically fix everything though, go for it.

the fluid in it was brown. it sat for 5 years in a garage. the transmission shift fine before I switched in my concoction.
after my concoction, it shifts just fine.

in about 5000 miles the fluid's coming out anyway so I'm not exactly concerned. However if you trust in a brand, it helps to see if it really truely does what it says it's going to do. And after 300 miles, so far so good.
