Hello, I am just wondering if it's safe to add an initial dose of 6oz (1oz per quart of oil) L.C. to GC? What got me worrying is the lastest replies to this post: http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=000765
which was originally posted quite awhile ago and was back when I was running Redline. Seems like some new info may have came along about using LC with Redline that we didn't know at the time. I do pay for Terry's services, but I have not drove my Firehawk much this year to get an oil sample on my current GC/LC mix now in the car.

BTW, it's a '00 LS1......

Thanks,
Paul

Add the LC...you'll be fine. Looking at that older conversation, the car sees redline more than a handful of times, but Redline did a nice job of keeping wear in check.

Have no fear, run GC and LC, and be happy!

Just ask Terry directly. He's used GC with LC in pretty good amounts with good results but your application might get a different recommendation. Terry has often said that LC if a fine lube on its own. I think he may be implying that the high lead readings in some of these UOAs aren't LC generated butI don't want to put words in his mouth. After all, an initial dose of 6.66% of 20w LC in a 30w oil is barely going to affect the Visc. and certainly not enough to show more lead within normal UOA tolerence. I also see mo reason not to use it in Red Line from the beginning but you may not need as large of an initial dose if its not the first use. Holding down oxidation in an Ester is a good thing.
