I didn't see anything in the UOA section matching the engine, only the NA variant and the turbo DI variant. Not looking to extend the OCI past OLM or 20% left of OLM, just looking to see what works well in the Ecotec.

The car is modded. .5" smaller pulley, 42lb injectors, intake (will be looking for an AEM Dryflow soon), and exhaust. I plan on getting it retuned, adding a "necessary exhaust item", and maybe running water methanol. As i haven't decided on the water methanol yet, I would like to go in two directions.

1. Suggestions for oil and filter without water methanol

2. Suggestions for oil and filter with

I know the filter is a female dog to get to, but that is the nature of the beast. I do not plan on tracking, road racing, street racing etc, just a few pulls a week to put a smile on my face.

What does the owners manual recommend? (probably a GM spec 4718 approved synthetic)

You might ask over on the CobaltSS forum but you'll probably end up having to sift through a dozen pages as they quibble over whether Mobil 1 is "required" (because after all, its printed right on the oil filler cap!) or if any other synthetic that meets the spec is OK. I doubt anyone there has done an UOA.

Any quality synthetic 530 should work either way. I have switched from conventional to synthetic and everything in between on my SC'ed Regals.

Wondering about HDEOs in 5-30 for a few OCIs

Devlac makes a 0w-30 called elite 222. It's really something special. An hdeo that's a 0w-30 grade is basically in a league all its own.
If you can find it give it a try.

One of the few times I'm going to throw Total oils in here...I'm heard good things about it in either the blown or Turbo'd Ecotecs...

With no meth, maybe some 0w30 edge syntec or even some QSUD 5w30...

A stout 30-weight that I've been considering is AMSoil HDD.

How much boost are you running in that thing? I'm not a fan of water-methanol injection, and don't think the Eaton 5th-Gen supercharger will put out enough boost to require it. On the other hand, if you have raised the boost pressure, the 5th-Gen is not very efficient above 12psi, and will cause higher IMT's. Eaton's later 6th-Gen TVS superchargers were much more efficient. I would think about putting on a more effective intercooler (larger) if the boost pressure has been raised. Water-methanol injection is a band-aid and costs power if the tuning is not properly adjusted to derichen the mixture at WOT.

Have you fiddled with the tuning to get rid of the partially open supercharger bypass at WOT? The OE LSJ was artificially detuned from the factory by opening up the bypass to reduce boost. This cost about 30HP.

It puts out 15 psi with a 2.9" pulley and full exhaust. New IC pump sitting next to me.

I have been working with Richard Lamb from Aquamist to setup a boost failsafe for the LSJ. It will lower boost when the kit experiences a problem fast enough to save the engine. The kit mirrors IDC and has a 10:1 progression, instead of the 1.5-2.5:1 of most kits on the market. Cobalt SS/SC washer fluid tank on the passenger's side will give over 1 gallon of fluid. Anything can be called a band-aid depending on how you look at it.

My thoughts are that I might want to go to a little thicker oil with the addition of water meth. I know I will do a short OCI after installing it. Last car that got a kit had darker oil than normal when i changed it.

Was pondering have Rotella T6 and half a good X-20
