Low viscosity/shearing

Ok, y'all are getting a little too scientific for me. Blackstone has trested me right in the past, with this being the first time that I didn't get a fuel dilution reading. Honestly, I'd rather know that I have some fuel dilution, than what's causing it. I'm going to bump up to 5w-40 and take some longer trips, then retest and evaluate based on the results.

Their methodology is not accurate, just a ballpark.
Next time, use Oil Analizers and insist on GC ( Gas Chromatography, as stated above)

There is a lab that I have used called OilAnalyzers that I think is associated with Amsoil.

I think the motor oil company that several of us on BITOG use these days called HPL Lubrications motor oils has their own lab. Dave on the HPL threads/posts or a simple call to HPL can verify is they do offer oil analysis. PM or call them and they will answer or get right back to you.

Chevron , another one who has a lab one can use as well. Program is called LubeWatch and they do list running the GC and giving TBN results.

Most of the bigger name companies offer motor oil analysis, but you should check to make sure like someone mentioned , ask them, tell them that you would like your samples run thru the GC meter and want the TBN results as well. Seems almost a waste of our time and money to pay if they dont provide the TBN and a true legitimate fuel result thru the use of the much more advanced GC machines that most of them have on hand anyway. The GC just takes a bit longer to run your sample thru and some want to charge us extra which to me is "holding us up" since they already have the machine and it is truly not a big deal to use.

Hope this info helps you. Seems like we all have tried Blackstone at one time or another, yet they do take long to return results.....
