In most any modern engine from the last decade or so it is extremely unlikely that the oil pump has failed. It just doesn't happen much at all.
ALWAYS check the sending unit first as it is far more likely. You must connect a "real" oil pressure gauge to be certain of anything you see on the dashboard...
