I have a Matco SAE Wrench set that IMO are the best wrenches ever made. I lost the 1/2 wrench last week. I use it every day so I feel neked w/o it.

According to the Garage journal guys this particular set was only made a short time and were made by Bonney.

They look like these but a little shorter.

I lost # WC162. If anybody has one for a reasonable price let me know.

I have one but im not giving up my matco wrenches either. I agree with you I have had every major brand wrench over the years and I like the matco best. Snapon Flank drive are right up there aswell

No they were made by bonney for matco. I bought my set 20 years ago. the new matco wrenches are not built as well they slip plus I don't want an odd bird in the set if I can help it.

Nope. Bonney went out of business in the early 1990s. Well, actually Cooper Tools bought the company and shut them down. More info on this tool history website:

To the OP-
The long pattern Bonney wrenches should be identical to your set. Keep your eyes open on ebay and you should find one eventually, whether it be MATCO or Bonney.

Also, the tool store Harry Epstein bought all of Bonney's remaining stock when they closed down. They still have quite a bit. They may be able to provide you with a Bonney wrench that would be a cosmetic match for your set, but stamped "Bonney" instead of MATCO.

I missed that the OP's wrenches are the short pattern. Still, you can find Bonney wrenches that should be identical. Also, you might look for Herbrand. That was another tool company owned by Bonney's parent company.

Thanks for that link. I'm gunna call em this week.

Any luck yet, Chris?? I've been searching for you but the only one I came up with (Garage Journal) was already sold. I will keep looking.

That sucks! Im sorry to hear you lost a man. Maybe ebay has the one you need sooner or later. I have a cheap set that looks like the same dimensions and they are a very nice wrench to use.

He hasn't responded here (but has logged in) so I guess its not much of a big deal anymore...

Update! Yesterday morning when we opened up after X-mas vacation it was on my box. Theres only 3 ppl that have a key. Me, the boss and his stupid kid.

Looks like the stupid kid borrowed it w/o telling anybody.

Great news! I was searching for you about every day that first week and no luck. Atleast the person was honest!
