Lost a good vehicle today

Headlight assembly was to be replaced (aftermarket, had some deeper scratches since that was the point of contact) bumper and fender to be replaced, tire to be replaced, rim to be repaired, radiator support to be replaced, miscellaneous clips, side markers to be replaced, new alignment. All of that coupled with paint, and work time. These cars are getting harder to source insurance quality parts for and while the market value is coming back up on them, they still are 18 years old.

I'd bet a tie rod and left CV axle would possibly be needed too. . Possible upper or lower A frames needed too?

It adds up rather fast...

When I got hit from behind in my car it was nearly $2000.... It didn't look like 2 grand worth of damage but I knew there was more wrong then what met one's eye. I used hospital tape with string in the tape to pull up my rear bumper on yat right side of my car... That tape held perfectly for a month until I got the car repaired.


The G35 you had was in great shape...

My car looks a decent bit like a G35.

$500-800? The body shop quoted me $4600 to fix it... and I didn't ask about buy back because salvage titles can be a pain.

If I remember correctly, some of the Altima’s came with the same VQ35DE that was in my G35. Is yours the V6 or the I4? And they do look very similar.

Find a Mexican owned neighborhood bodyshop to fix it. They'll do it cheap.

I know it's too late, but want to comment that Hispanic body shops know their stuff. Many of my wife's family (Puerto Rican) do body work North of Boston. Hard to believe the quality that can come out of a small shop in a bad neighborhood.

^^Absolutely!! My gf (who's Mexican) has a cousin who owns a small neighborhood bodyshop and he's fixing my (totaled by insurance co) 300ZX for $1000.

Actually the G & Z shared the same engine and some suspension components. They went separate ways with the engine when the 350Z got the HR engine. The highest a G35 got was the DE rev up. The G37 got the HR. But almost all hard parts are interchangeable between the Z/G.

The Altima is FWD though, hardly an accurate description.

I do believe $4,600 sounds right to do the job correctly with high quality. There’s no doubt in my mind you can get this done for much cheaper but the quality of work won’t be as good.

The YT channel Unwrecked would fix that right up and do a quality repair. I think he's in southern PA somewhere. He specializes in older cars that have been in fender benders mostly from CP. All of them with more damage than that.

When Discount tire refuses to do something due to their fear of being sued I head over to the Mexican tire shop.
Show them some cash and they are all over it.
$20 and it was done in 10 minutes with no crap.
The owner put the $20 right in his pocket ,good for him. Tacos for lunch.
Like the time Discount refused to rotate my tires because the tread did not meet their standard.

The first rule to not get sued is to have nothing to be sued for. If you live in a low income area with no money to be sued for, lawyers will sue someone else. Without having to do all the things insurance company ask you not to do and pay a huge premium you can offer services at a reasonable rate.
