Just wondering what everyone is using these days.
I own a Tech 1, Tech 2, and GDS2 with MDI1 and MDI2 for GM, NGS, IDS and FDRS for Ford, DRB III and Witech for Chrysler, PGM tester and i-HDS for Honda, Toyota Diagnostic Tester and Techstream for Toyota, VCDS for VW/Audi, VIDA for Volvo, Autel MS908s, Snapon Verus Pro and Bosch ADS325.
Well he asked what everyone is using lol...I would be surprised if anyone here bought one of those Scan Tools Tim
My collection....
Tech 2, GM GDS2/MDI2, Ford IDS, Forscan, Snap-on Solus Ultra, Snap-on MT2500, & HP-Tuners Scanner/Data Logging. GM & Ford is my bread & butter if you couldn't tell.
Work on just enough Chrysler's to make it irritating not having OE level diagnostic equipment, But don't work on enough of them to justify anything dedicated. How's the Autel with Chrysler/FCA coverage?
Given the OP has only Ford vehicles then get Forscan software and aJust wondering what everyone is using these days.
The software in my Verus is 16.2 so I cant speak to more recent updates. My MS908s is current on Autel. I will say that before I had Witech, Autel was my go to for FCA and had very few issues. Layout mimics Witech, its as close as you are going to get without using witechThought I was the only one that hated laptops
Most of the programing I do is GM & Ford which I have covered, For FCA....I'll have my mobile guy take care of that. I was just curious if the Autel was better than Snap-on for PID's & Functional Test support on FCA vehicles?
I have this one as well and it's okay but my older discontinued AutoXray 6000 offers way more data PID information on my older 98 chevy trucks and the 92 cavalier than the 5610 does.Innova 5610. It's okay.
The bi-directional controls it has are good enough. It also has pretty in depth live data with things like wheel speed sensors, etc. Which all show up on freeze frame data if the vehicle supports the storage of that data.
I am new to FCA but my MS906BT (which is current and has an active AutoAuth subscription) is a bit weak on FCA compared to WiTech 2.0. Surprisingly weak. In fact, it has no live data for the eTorque related modules for my truck and doesn't even recognize 2020 models yet.Well he asked what everyone is using lol...
I forgot that I have forscan BTW. Autel is okay on FCA stuff, I do tend to grab that first on a non-SGW vehicle just because I dont like a laptop tool personally, though with the Micropod I can use Witech on my phone. Diagnostics/Programming and keys are a decent chunk of my business, so to be able to do that factory tooling is a must. There is some stuff on Chrysler that ya just cant program without a DRB III for non-can stuff. On CAN stuff you can use a Cardaq plus 3 or Cardaq M with Witech on a short term subscription. I used that for a bit but programming was iffy on newer stuff. Had a 2015 Caravan that took 10 attempts to get it to complete and 3 hours of time. Up next for me is an IM508 to complement my Key Tool Max (theres another tool I forgot) and if VW ever approves my GeKO ID I will have ODIS
One thing to note is the software in the 906 is a little lighter so to speak than the 908/909/919/ultra tools. I have a 908sp. Havent tried to do anything on a newer chrysler with my 908 since I have witech.I am new to FCA but my MS906BT (which is current and has an active AutoAuth subscription) is a bit weak on FCA compared to WiTech 2.0. My main unit is a MS906BT and I also use a Cardaq Plus 3.
