Been looking around at used laptops to run Forscan for our ford pickups and to work on some of the local fire departments Fords as well. I’d also like to get some OBD software to do other vehicles as well. My current scanner is pretty basic and I don’t think Forscan does anything but Ford products. This one popped up on marketplace from a local reputable seller. I’ve been out of touch with IT long enough now that I’d like a second opinion on it.

I've had a ThinkPad T14s as my work laptop for a few years and it's been rock solid. So, based on that, I'm a big ThinkPad fan.

Lenovo Thinkpads are all we use at work and at the school district I worked for years back. All have been great and parts were available when we needed something quick.

its a t480 that gen had these:

They are also built very well and not floppy like standard laptops. Its road warrior model.. they have enhanced durability.. metal cage inside etc.

I still use my t520 for diagnostics. which is second gen I series processors.
Realistically its worth nothing but for this use with its cherry condition I'd say upto $100-200 max as a diagnostic device.

If you are using it occasionally/not frequently I would opt for an actual new usable laptop.

At that Lenovo's current age I wouldn't. Almost every one of the T480s our client use, have needed a battery swap within 4 years (like not holding a charge at all.) Luckily they're the easy external-battery type replacement.

My wife has one of these. It's fine for her court cases, but the memory is sloooow: 1600Mhz. And, the memory is only 8GB. I'd try for a later model with a faster CPU and faster RAM (16GB or greater).
