I'm about to break down and get an immersion blender. I'm looking for quality, speed, something easy to handle, corded, and easy to clean. Suggestions?

Here's six from Good Housekeeping tests. Check them out:

I have the Hamilton Beach 2 speed. It does the job, easy to use and clean. Walmarts is where I got mine.

After going through a couple of cheap ones I ponied up the money and got the KitchenAid .
It was well worth the cost, my wife is very impressed with it, and she is real picky.
this one

KitchenAid KHBV53BM Variable Speed Corded Hand Blender, Black Matte, 8 in

$55 on Amazon.

What kind of budget are you on? That breville at 99$ seems good, the vitamix is interesting at 150, and that bamix looks crazy but the price crazy too.

Thanks for all the responses. Now that I've looked through the suggestions, I've a better idea of what I want. I'm going to look at the Breville and the Braun and see which is most comfortable for me. The Vitamix deserves closer scrutiny in that I've been using their full-sized blenders for a while with excellent results.

I've been using my Vitamix and Waring blenders for all my needs, but they are overkill for making small amounts of sauces and pastes. I like the little food processor attachment Ina Garten uses in this video.

That makes more sense now that I know what you are making with it! We have a few for different things. I had to go ask the wife and she responded with "depends" on what the food product is? I also got a list of what's in the kitchen. So I think I will stay in my coffee area and the garage for threads like this. HA!
