I was leaning towards the traverse although Hyundai still has the better warranty 5 years 60,000 miles and 10 years 100,000 miles on the powertrain...As for the Traverse i think it is 3 years 36,000 miles and then the 100,000 mile warranty on the engine but i dont think it is 10 years on the chevy but i could be wrong.

I also like the highlander but she does not like Toyota because she had a 2009 rav 4 total lemon.. Stalling, transmission problems and very little help from Toyota.. She won a lemon Law case and got a full refund including taxes and money for the oil changes on a car she had for 2 years. I think they fianlly put a new ecm in and it was ok but a month later they bought it back so im pretty sure it was the ecm from the beginning but i dont know for sure. She won't buy a Hyundai either because someone she knows had one that overheated because of a minor fender bender and hyundai refused a warranty claim. We did the heads and all was good but she does not one of them. And its like that with every brand i mentioned. But she has to get something.

My mother owns a 2011 Traverse LT AWD with the 3.6L DI. I've driven that vehicle a few times as i maintain it for her. It is a nice vehicle. It rides well and drives well. The 3.6L DI engine is very responsive and feels strong in the vehicle unloaded. I've never driven it loaded down with 7 passengers, but I can tell you it runs pretty darn good unloaded.

She is extremely happy with hers. It has been reliable as well. She is almost at 100k miles now.
The only thing that has been done to it is normal maintenance. IE oil changes, Brakes, Diff/transfer case changes, and ATF changes. Spark plugs are next when it rolls 100k.

It has been a good vehicle. She did not buy it brand new, however it was CPO.

If warranty is important I know Honda / Acura extended warranties backed by Honda are relatively cheap. You can purchase vehicle one place and then via another dealer get these over phone/online. Much cheaper then the 200-300% markup at vehicle selling dealer. Also a leverage point.

Eg http://www.curryhondacare.com

I presume these are available for make of interest. Don't have her limit choice based on warranty. Make sure the warranty is car maker backed not after market trash.

Seems like no real bad choices in this price segment....

It's old however a much better vehicle in terms of space vs the rest by a noticeable margin. A highlander feels small next to it for example.

The new Pilot has been extremely well received. It essentially has Acura's fantastic SH-AWD system (named differently), a reliable and refined J series V6, and a tried and true 6AT (skip the new 9 speed).
