Those two are not mutually exclusive, and there is a plethora of examples out there that prove that.

Well just about every controlled feed bolt action is an "infantry replica". I personally like military tried and tested designs because they are versatile, durable, and proven to function in a host of climates and conditions.
The SKS for example, when they were cheap, were used by many many deer hunters since the 7.62 Soviet intermediate cartridge is quite similar to the venerable 30-30 in performance, especially under 150 yards.
