There's a lot out there so I am just trying to see some suggestions. Motor Trend, Road & Track, Car and Driver... I have not a clue as to what's the best. I would like to read about new stuff in the auto world, but I also really enjoy reading about past engines and cars.

As far as classics go, the Hemmings Classic magazine is sharp, and the other one, "Collectible Automobile," is too. I've found myself gravitating toward them since there is no magazine I know of devoted to Buicks past or present, and the major auto magazines almost never examine -- or say anything good about -- American cars of any age. "Motor Trend" once had a classic magazine, a quarterly, I think, but I haven't seen it in a couple of years.

If you're into Mercedes, the British "Mercedes Enthusiast" is really the best. They focus on a good mix of the new and the classics. You'll find yourself drooling over the cars for sale, and wondering why you don't get the kind of fuel mileage the writers report. (It's because they give the mileage in Imperial gallons!)

I'm partial to hot rod and possibly also car craft. They do mechanical stuff instead of just drive new cars and have various levels of involvement from amateur to completely over the top.

Only sad thing is the pictures of events, all geezers. But they're trying to youthen up their image and/or do budget stuff.

I've always enjoyed C&D the most, if you can get by their overwhelming love of all things BMW...

Most other car magazines are dry when it comes to writing styles, but C&D always keeps my attention.

Thanks for the the suggestions guys! Car and Driver is only $10 for a full year, pretty hard to not subscribe to a magazine that cheap. I am tempted to grab Hemmings Classic too - $19 a year.

I see you have a Camaro. I get Chevy Hi Tech performance, they cover the new stuff and the old stuff and do a lot of LSX performance stuff. My Pontiac even likes it.

i get Road and Track, Car and Driver, Automobile, Motor Trend, Grassroots Motorsports, Hot Rod, European Car, Popular Hot Rodding, Car Craft, Race Tech, Racecar Engineering and then whatever else catches my eye at Borders. i stopped getting the mustang mags since they were all the, especially sicne my mustang was in one. Hands down the most interesting are Race Tech and Racecar Engineering.

GO to the news stand and look at all the magazines. See which format you like the best. See if there is a magazine shop in your area that only sells magazines. They usually sell off-the-wall car mags that are far better than the main stream junk.

30 years ago I liked Car Craft, but I don't think they are around anymore. I don't know what it is with the good magazines, but after a while they turn to junk. I think the main editor changes and the new guy doesn't know what he is doing, or is more interested in making money than producing a quality magazine. I like hard core do-it-yourself articles. Most people can not do their own work so they just like looking at pretty pictures and shiny chrome do-dads.

If I can find it for under a dollar an issue again, I may re-subscribe.

Magazines.com or C&D's main site has 1 year for $10, 2 years for $16.

Thanks guys, I'm checking out all your suggestions now.

I'd go for that, but it's $10 per year extra for Canadian subscriptions.
