How long would you guys feel comfortable storing gasoline in a 5 gallon plastic gas can with the correct amount of fuel stabilizer added?
1 year ?
2 years?

What say ye?

You can always rotate your stock. One year is nothing as long as the fuel is kept cool, the container out of sunlight, and dry.

Two years max but with sta-bil. Lots of boaters typically store their boats with a full tank over winter and don't have any problems.

I seem to recall that propane keeps very well, but you'll need to store more it. It's also more entertaining for others when a tank blows :^)

I would treat the gasoline with Schaeffer's #131 Neutra Fuel Stabilizer at the rate of one ounce per gallon. Ask the Schaeffers SalesRep about storage time, but the rotation idea makes the most sense.

I think you will see usage start to decline for some folks.:

Gasoline and Credit Cards

"The rise in gas prices is really stretching budgets to the breaking point for some people," the association's chief economist, Jim Chessen, said in an interview. "Gas prices are taking huge chunks out of wallets, leaving some individuals with little left to meet their financial obligations."

Sad the President gave a very half-hearted request for people to conserve energy. Lost opportunity

It has been demonstrated (in Texas, where the OP is from) that our current infrastructure cannot supply enough fuel for a large population in a specific area to drive out of harm's way.

I'm with you. I've got around 15 gallons stocked away for this very reason. I filled my with premium and added Fuel Power at a rate of 1 oz per 5 gallons. I've had gas for well over a year stored with Fuel Power and it still smelled and performed like new. Good stuff. I can't say the same for Sta-bil. Schaeffer's 131 has also worked well for me.

I've date labeled mine and plan on rotating it out on a yearly basis.
