Lock Washers

36 years ago I worked in a boat yard that had a full on machine shop on premises. We built all sorts of stuff and had a never ending line of go fast boats coming through year round.
When we used to install big blocks in Cigarettes and whatnot, the installation process bordered on insane. The bolts that went through the hull bulkhead and engine plates got a split lock washer and a Nylock nut with Loctite. The engine mount bolts on the block and the flywheel bolts got safety wired and everything else got at least a lock washer and Loctite. It was VERY time consuming.
Being nineteen and full of questions, I remember asking why all this but the connecting rod bolts only got torque. My boss hated my questions at 7 am.
I will say this… Nothing ever came loose.
