I noticed about 2 weeks ago my Local Walmart was clearanceing out Pennzoil Ultra so of course i bought a few jugs.

At the same time i noticed they are clearancing out the G Oil as well, never bought any etc but i believe it was dropped to the same price.

Now tonite i was back in there and they had more ultra bottles out

and they are now Clearancing out Castrol Edge, the gold bottle.

pretty soon i think they will only be left with Pennzoil Plat, mobil of course, Quaker State Synthetic and Supertech Syn.

I guess its no real surprise seeing how they were north of 8 dollars a quart.

but not a lot of places carry the variety of synthetics like walmart does/did.

I do see that they now added Royal Purple to there arsenal.

The ones in Fargo are also getting rid of PU (5qt jugs and singles) and some gold bottle Castrol (5qts and singles) they still wanted $5 a quart though, and 21 dollars for 5qt of PU.

But they picked up obscure oils like 5w40 syn Delo400, 10w30 Delvac, RP 5w20/30, Mobil 1 0w40 5qt jugs, and synpower 5w40/0w20.

I have no idea what they are doing or why....

One of my local Wal-Marts now stocks Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic in the shelf space that was once occupied by Ultra. Has it in both 5 qt jugs and singles and in all viscosities.

I thought that was kinda odd considering I've only ever seen that oil only once at a local Autozone. They stocked it for about 2 months a couple of years ago and the stopped and haven't seen it since anywhere else.

Some people dont spend a lot of money on high priced synthetics because they realize the engine will run pretty much the same wih any sn oil they use of the correct weight. If synthetics were so much better in every way i would be out of the engine business

Maxlife Synthetic showed up on WM's website a few weeks ago. They still don't sell it here in FL, but I noticed that some stores in the Atlanta area sell the 5 qt. jug and I'm going to be there next week. I have 2 $4 off Valvoline coupons I'm dying to use on them.

Interesting that they are clearing out G Oil, two of the local WalMarts just started stocking G Oil ...

As long as they keep one or two brands of 0w-20, MC 5w-20 Syn Blend and RT6 I'll be happy.

Would be nice if they could make up their mind on MC filters, though.

At my local Walmart, I noticed the addition of some Valvoline HD oils and some Shell 2T and 4T oils. Nothing missing from what I can tell.

WHAT were they asking for the qts. and jugs??
The local NAPA here (the ONLY place I've EVER seen it on a shelf) gets $8.99/qt. for this.

The single quarts were $6.99 regular price and the 5qt jug was on sale for $21.99.

Walmart seems to run its oil offerings in cycles.
What is now old will be new again in a year or two.
There will also always be new latest and greatest oil offerings, some of which will survive and prosper, like Plat, while some will fade to black, as Ultra and gold bottle Edge appear to be doing.
If Walmart really is dumping G-Oil, then GET's days as a motor oil blender are probably coming to a close.

Their first two months numbers were awful. They decided to get everything not sellin from Kotex to motor oil out and start new.

I went to my WalMart and the 5w30 Ultra 5 qt were sold out. They weren't on closeout, so there might be some hope that it will stick around here at affordable rates. Of course, I picked up enough on closeout that I won't need any for a few years.

I'm officially hooked. Since all my cars technically take 5w30, all are going on warranty whatever other oil is around will be subjected to -$10. BOGO PureOnes to top it all off.
