Little experiment. Cold weather

Last oil change I did was in 20 degree weather with 3qts 5w30Quaker State Ultimate Durability and 3qts 10w30 Quaker State Ultimate Durability. They both flowed nicely I suppose but the 5w30 did "seem" to finish faster than the 10w30. Did not time/measure/etc.

It's why I would not use a 10w40 conventional.

The other "fun" fact is that the Castrol and Quaker State oils are all quite darker that the M1 and PP. No big deal but it shows their different compositions.

I'll check again when it is -30c. Stay tuned.


Not quite. Refined oils are practically clear. The coloring for all of them is artificial.
