It's certainly fine, but a lot of us would say it's no better than the other readily-available 5w40s despite costing more. It recently got a formula update to meet API SN.

You can get it at NAPA for roughly the same price as Amazon, by the way.

Very good. Excellent, in fact.

Now, is it appropriate for what you pour it into?

That's a different question altogether....

It is very good oil.......I have run it in my wife's MB SLK320 for over two years......I would recommend this oil to anyone.....Have read off this site, that it is the #1 oil brand in Europe

Why are you guys so sure that it is such a good oil? The specs on paper are pretty mediocre and the used oil analysis aren't particularly impressive either. LM was stuck in the past for a while now and has only very recently gotten their formulas to API SN.

It's a good synthetic oil, but at around $10 more than Mobil 1 0W40 which has many manufacture's approvals, I'll pass. Unless Amazon has it on sale for less than $25.

If you like it and have time to wait, add it to your cart and wait until the price dropped, or check camelcamelcamel.com

It could be that LM might not care much about API as they have they own standards in EU, On other hand I did run LM in wife's car for a little but never did UOA ...

Its cheaper in Canada then Mobil 1 0w40

Meets MB 229.5, not an easy spec to meet. Don't care as much about SN, but the MB spec interests me...

It meets MB 229.3 not MB 229.5 spec. It only meets BMW LL-98 also. No reason to buy this oil over Mobil 1 0W-40. Why do people think the Euro made oils are superior to the US made oils?

I didn't say that there was a reason to buy it over the Mobil 1 0W40. Take a look at my sig...I run the Mobil 1 in my M275, a demanding engine. However, I am pretty certain that this oil meets MB 229.5.

I am not so sure. The Mercedes list is for the Leichtlauf 5w-40 version. His link is for the 2041, Synthoil version of their 5w-40, which would be 229.3.

Then I stand corrected. I will have to look into it a bit more...

But I am very happy with the Mobil 1 0w40 and have pulled the second sample from the S600 for UOA. I will list results when I get them.

Cheers,
Astro
