I have a few bottles of MoS2 I bought on sale and both my diff and transmission are due for a service. I have the fluid for both and I am wondering whether to add a bottle of MoS2 between them?
Would it give any benefits? I'm guessing it will reduce friction on the mechanical parts and I can't think of any downsides but I would like to know if anyone else has tried this and some opinions, also dosage if so.
Thanks

No No No for the auto transmission. If I am thinking correctly is will bind to the clutch material and could make it slip. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Don't use it in automatic transmission, automatic transmissions need a carefully selected friction modifier package. Adding MoS2 would upset the whole thing.

As for differentials, check the oil manufacturer's website to know if using it in differentials is okay. If you have a limited slip differential, don't add the MoS2. Limited slip differential oil has a special additive package to control clutch friction. Adding MoS2 would also upset the friction modifier additives.

Motorcycle owners have to avoid using MoS2 because it always has an effect on wet clutches.

I prefer to buy approved oil and never add anything to it. It has everything it needs, and nothing that it shouldn't have.

It isn't an LSD but I know Ford sold a friction modifier that you had to add to your diff oil when you changed it but I'm not sure what it contained and I'm certain that was for LSDs only.
Okay I won't do it haha thanks for all the replies

They call those limited slip friction modifiers, and it is always okay to add the proper amount to gear oil. Other car companies also do the same thing.

Heed the warning from this guy.

YOu'll really mess up your auto transmission and LSD with this stuff.

Don't even use it in a Manual Transmission.
