Under the terms of the agreement, ExxonMobil will transport and permanently store up to 2.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide each year from Linde’s hydrogen production facility, equivalent to the emissions from nearly half a million cars per year.

Exxon will earn a credit of $85/tonne or $187M/yr.

Pure gas, liquid or solid CO2 is used in food, beverage, petro-chem industries, of course for dry ice, etc..etc.

I forget the details on the Beaumont TX h2 plant, but I believe it's a steam-methane reformer, which basically strips the H2 out of natural gas. The byproducts are largely CO2, then water and CO, some trace N2, etc. "Capturing" the CO2 and saying you're zero emissions makes people feel good.

Those with a water well will start getting seltzer water out of their tap.
Waaaayyyy deeper
No different than natural gas. Even crude oil is under immense pressure. In any case some of the CO2 becomes mineralized.
Yeah - one of our wealthy ranch families had 15,000 psi equipment on gas wells …
Think it’s mostly plugged now …
