Ok, so I cant see where people are saying just below the 40 mark is too high of a pressure at operating temp idle. Ive driven and owned several 6.0, 5.3 GM V8s and they all read like this. Even if all the Oil pressure guages were innacurate, forget the numbers on the dash and understand the needle movements are all very similar wether hot idle, cold start up, acceleration, whatever.
Not trying to start a war here but this is how it is. Anyway, the truck in question consumes very little, and has no oil pressure isssues. The guage has acted just like this for its whole life. So i guess this is just piston slap arriving in its golden years. I will let it live out its life on 5w30. I want to get my hands on the 6.2L anyway!
