Next time you complain about how difficult it is to change your oil, just be glad you don't have a Lexus LFA. Dry sump, 14.8 quarts of Mobil 1 5w50, and the oil change procedure requires that you drain the oil, refill, run the engine, drain the oil AGAIN, refil, then change the filters.

Supposedly maintenance on the LFA, overall, is less expensive than even a GT-R, and REALLY cheap by supercar standards.

And since it's Toyota, you can probably get away with just draining once.

Why the refill? Why wouldnt the geniuses just add a drain plug on the dry sump? Seems like a total waste, even if the clientele have deep pockets.

That's insane

OK. One of the mechanics didn't want to see it go to waste, so he was putting it in his Jeep. The oil change only cost $300 - which doesn't seem bad for what you get. This cost $551.73 out the door. Ouch.

When the guy took the cover off the spin on oil filters, there was oil on the matting surfaces. What's up with that? Is the oil pressure so high that those spin on filters leak, hence the reason they are contained within their own housing?

I'd gladly take 14 quarts of USED oil after it idled through the LFAs engine for a few minutes.

I assume you haven't changed the oil on a big diesel then?

Sorry, I should have said that is the largest capacity 'on a car' that I ever heard of

Wouldn't surprise me too much, honestly. The GT-R has two more differentials to fill (with some of the most expensive fluid I'm aware of) and a double-clutch unit with wet clutches. It's also much heavier than the LFA, so brake changes might be another difference-maker.

Bugatti Veyron supposedly has an oil capacity of 42 liters.

I pay about $10 on average for the supplies on one of my oil changes, so I could get 55 oil changes, or enough to last me the lifetime of both of my cars for the same $551.73. But I am guessing the owners of those cars are not watching the BITOG rebate threads like a hawk.
