I'll let everyone read the article, but I feel like the program target was to offer an electrified RX to the higher option spec RX buyer, so think F sport ATP. I assume being a JP built package, from the Giant that is Lexus, it will be very well built and build quality will be #1, but is that enough? They already make an RX thats best in class in terms of build quality or reliability that doesnt make any sacrifices with a variety of powertrains. And then there is the 6K cheaper Model Y thats quite a package in the EV class.

Got to love reading a "review" by a writer who hasn't even sat in the car. Ahhh the age of social media ... Clickbait ...
Good or bad...
Here is someone who actually drove the car =

The RX is Lexus' #1 selling vehicle and the #1 selling lux SUV; there's a reason for it. Well, with the exception of the Model Y anyways...
Around town? Best Costco vehicle? Yep.
The 225 range sucks. You have probably heard of distance driving issues with EVs...
And no Tesla Supercharger network. Besides being a Lex, not much to crow about here.

Just my 2 cents...

I don't like it. Toyota fell short on this one. 355V, 96 cell, 64-66KWh (useable) and 140/180 miles of Cold/Mild highway range. Only 150KW charge rate to 25%, then dropping linearly to 50KW by 80% state of charge. Also of note it has a 6.6-kW onboard charger, Ugh.

As I mentioned in one of my other threads, same BZ4x issues but this time with a higher entry point.

Cons: Less range than rival EVs, doesn't offer the fastest charging tech
Verdict: The RZ is a nice first EV effort from Lexus but rivals offer more power, more range, and quicker charging.

I dont think the facts change based on the type of review. Opinions of course vary.

Depending if you want to hear from someone who actually sat in the car and drove it vs someone who looked up the information online (arm chair reviewer) like any of us can do.
That was the intention of my post, not to accept "reviews" from someone who has not even sat in the car *LOL* That is only a review of the specs.

You left out this part form someone who actually sat in and drove the car -
"Handling is spry, nicely-trimmed interior, compliant ride."

Im not saying good or bad but at least it's a real review. Maybe someone would check out a car that "Handling is spry, nicely-trimmed interior, compliant ride." because nicely trimmed interior is very important vs range and power. I have no clue, anyway, I just posted a real review, good or bad I'm neutral ... 🙃 just though I made a good point.

Looks a lot nicer to me than anything Tesla offers. Having said that I wouldn't buy one.
Yeah, kind of why I just wanted to point out the review. I am sure the interior is nice too. Hey not everyone cares about 0 to 60 times and range if it's just going out to dinner or the grocery store. I like the looks too and I too wouldnt buy one but I can see the appeal for people who have these types of cars that only go out to dinner or the grocery store.
I'll agree it doesnt sound great.

I don't care much about 0-60 speed, and if I did checking how fast I could get to 60 would be very dangerous here. What I do care about is being able to get into a car when I want, drive where ever I want and not have to worry about where I'm going to have to plug in. I guess I'm spoiled, gas stations are all over the place and I can get maybe 300 to over 500 miles range depending which of my vehicles I drive. Then fill up in well under 10 minutes, and do it all over again. That's a freedom I don't want to give up, and I don't want to plan trips or rely on an app to tell me where the next charging station is. But for those that like the EV, go for it.

Its sales targe

Valid points, but if you value a solid built interior over powertrain and range, would the RX hybrid or PHEV be a step down?

I think in this scenario, Lexus's strongest competitor is the RX Hybrid and PHEV. Seamless, perfected powertrain with zero range compromises. Same build quality and standards.

Perhaps ex-CEO Toyoda feels differently since just he lost his job...
Incorrect, no one made him lose his job
No, that's why I suspect he quit. People wouldn't stop harassing him about an EV and he felt it was not the direction Toyota should be headed.
I am not so sure it was his idea...
Let's be transparent and honest in these posts, some people actually believe everything they read in posts.
Mr Toyoda at age 66 stepped down as CEO and President he has been at the helm since 2009. He is now the new Chairman of the Board (he is hardly out on the street) in fact he is taking over the position of the current chairman who will still remain on the board under him. The current chairman has been considering stepping down for some time.
