Tonight is a perfect time to contact those that you know that are deployed military!
I only know 1 kid that is deployed right now and man was he happy to hear from folks back home. Please take the time to thank them as this is the time of the year that they are most homesick. Thank you!

It means a lot to the ones who are deployed although there are ones who act like the holidays are a burden. Those ones are the softest ones.

I admit I do find it annoying that I'd like to pick something up from the store and discover they are closed only to realize it's a government holiday. Doesn't matter the holiday, closed is closed, lol!

Not deployed/military, though.

Thanks to all of those serving in our armed forces!

God Bless our troops. We were blessed and have my son home for Christmas this year. It has been 6 years since he last set foot in this house.

Yes! Thank you! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

A world of thanks to all our military brethren wherever they are. They might be on the front lines or standing a lonely watch somewhere. I hope they all get a moment to pause and enjoy this Merry Christmas.

I am very thankful to all who are serving and have served. I am sure it is hard to be deployed and away from your families on the holidays like this and please know your sacrifice is appreciated.

Of course you are correct. However it has been customary to pause and reflect on those who must celebrate their holiday away from friends and family.

Maybe not for you but to the families with loved ones away from home serving our country it does, it's called sacrifice and commitment, it's Family. Can't remember how many Christmases i've missed with my family during my 22 yrs of service to this country.Until you put on a uniform or walk in their shoes you'll never understand.

I don't quite get the drift of dave 1251's post. Who are the "ones"?

The grumpy service members who act like they don't want any attention around the Holidays and today is just another day. It's the furthest from the truth.

Of all the things, I think it's one of the better things it could be about.

But...to those of us who have jobs to do, and lives to live, it is just another day, often beset by annoyances like stores and other things being closed. I cant speak for military, but civilian side, yes, it's just another day, and I'm wondering if I can get any Bang or Reign to help fuel tonight, or if I should have bought 2 the other night.

I've worked Christmas many times, and other holidays. On call today.

Still not another day to me. All in how your attitude is. The best gift I can give, is care to another person suffering on any day, especially a holiday. Care with empathy, and the best projection of positive energy I can muster. Would not matter what job I had, the holiday is in your heart and mind as you do your job. You can celebrate it through your cheerful service.

I am very grateful to those who have, and continue to protect my ability to enjoy this holiday, and my way of life.

I am grateful to all of you who have served, and are serving.

My take is that I treat people the same, regardless of what day it is. I don't care who they are, or what their past is, I simply care how they are at the moment, within my professional purview. The largest part of customer satisfaction is feeling that you are being treated fairly and equally, I've found. It's innate from the time you're a child.

For the record, wife's son is active USAF, in North Carolina. Last year in Seoul. Wife's father was a retired US Army Ranger.

I think it's rough to be deployed whether is Christmas or Thanksgiving or your kids BDAY.

Exactly ^^^^^

Thinking about those thousands of miles apart from their families... Separated by oceans and many, many time zones. . Serving this country... At times in places that are not always the most hospitable...
