Woke up yesterday, looked out at my window cracked. Most of the water ended up on my leather seats. What is the best way to get the mildew smell out.

look into the calcium chloride tubs at walmart or hardware stores. They soak up moisture. Might be a way to get the smell and dampness out

I left the sunroof in my 3000GT open one time during a downpour. What I did was use clean beach towels to get and soak up every bit of the water and totally dry every surface of the interior. Car had leather seats also, and I just cleaned and conditioned the holy heck out of them. Never had a wet rainy smell, thank goodness.

You know, they have windshield wiper rain sensors, you think they could use that thing to check if its raining and put the windows up automatically...

^ I like that. Seats come out pretty easily, just a few bolts, then you can really let air etc get at the carpeting beneath.

I agree with the others. Pull the seats out if you can and let them fully air dry. Position a fan at the seats to accelerate the process.

Once dry, clean the seats thoroughly with a quality leather cleaner. Use a small stiff brush and scrub every inch of the seats. Wipe off the cleaner with clean towels, then apply a leather conditioner to the seats with a clean applicator pad.

Ait out the rest of the interior. Consider cleaning the carpets with a carpet cleaner or rent a "rug doctor" to do a deep clean. Let them fully air dry as well before reinstalling the seats.

Hopefully that will remove the mildew odor, and you'll have a very clean car interior.

I had to completely remove the interior of my Neon a few months ago due to the dang taillight seal problem. I had water about an inch above the carpet on the right side of the car all the way to the front of the car, along with the spare wheel well filled 1/2 way up with water. Ended up driving around for a few days with the dash and a driver seat, lol. No other seats, no carpet, no console, nothing in the trunk...

I did get the carpet and rear seat cushion completely dry using a circulating floor heater. Inside floor pan was dried with a shop vac. The padding on the bottom of the carpet was thoroughly sprayed down with Lysol. It got rid of that smell (moldy, damp, wet-dog-like smell) and it has been fine since. Gave me a great chance to completely clean everything to which is always nice IMO. Being an OCD detailer will do that to you, lol.

I had a leaky roof honda del sol and had that moisture bad smell, but I placed small box of baking soda under the seats and it helped alot.
