I can't go back to the traditional wash for maintenance washes. Ultima wash concentrate is around $13 on amazon and can be used as a waterless wash and a detailer as well. Has a built in measuring cup. Half ounce solution and 2 gallons of warm water. About 3 plush MF towels to dry.
As a matter of fact, I got inspired after reading this thread and did a rinseless. A little rain cloud came along and I moved it in the garage and finished. You can do that with a rinseless. Car looks fine after 4.5 years of this. I do the "Garry Dean" method and I like it so well I'll even go to the coin op and give it a good hosing off first with plain water if it's too dirty for a rinseless.
I don't economize on microfiber cloths one bit. I buy them for cheap in the big bags at Sams Club. Buying some high-dollar fancy-pants cloth and then economizing by trying to do too much with it is foolish.
Yes, I believe the monthly wax job is getting to be obsolete. The Optimum spray wax seems to last about as well as your average car sealant. I guess there's no fundamental reason why a spray wax cannot be durable.
I put the cloths in the Speed Queen on Heavy duty and then run them through again. I put the still wet cloths in next week's hooch which I have already mixed up and put a lid on it. That way I don't unnecessarily dry the towels.
