It fell somewhere between the 10W-40 and 20W-50 syns. The 5W-30 is the only one that I actually had to top off between OCIs.

Interesting they equate a 20W-40 as being their "equilalent" to a 30wt...as far back as 1979. I think they got it right for their engines a long time back. I use a 30wt such as Optimol or 15W-50 Synthetic.

It's sad we seem to be finding that the equiptment manufacturer that the engine is mounted on seems to know more about oil than some of the engine manufacturer's. Use any oil you want? It does not matter? Well if you are seeing a sheen of metallic particles in your oil you first have to rule oil that the oil is not well suited to the engine's needs or it is not being changed often engough.
