I actually got my Toro up and going again. The brake hadn't worked for years, but after a couple hours of messing with it I finally tore it apart and realized how it worked, and now it's working great. Too bad the deck is trash. Ran it around the yard and it actually ran pretty good.

I get your point about buying new. I'll keep that in mind.

If you have the bucks and don't mind spending, sure, it's nice to buy new equipment. I haven't bought a new car since 1973, setting my limit at $5000. (Okay, I bought an '83 Camaro for $8000 in 1986, but since then, nothing over $5000. I'm now retired on a fixed income, outstripped by inflation.)

Your old Toro will tell you what you need when you decide to upgrade. Maybe even a zero turn if you have a lot of turns and obstacles.
