Latest NexGen Prices

I was in Walmart today, and looked at the oils. The last time I was in a Walmart, the Nexgen was $13 for 5qts, and the Valvoline conventional was $15. Today (different Walmart mind you), both NexGen and WB were both $15.47.

I was very keen on trying nexgen in my truck for its yearly oil change. Since I only put on 1-3000 miles a year, and the oil seems OK, I figure it was a perfect use for a recycled oil from a premium manufacturer.

For $13 vs $15, Id use it (currently have ultra in there). For the same price, I dont see why I would.

Feel good is all well and good, but since there should be far less processing, Id hope for a better price point, especially in light of growing virgin stock costs.

We don't have it here but where I have seen it that seems to be about the same price.

I started seeing commercials about nextgen on TV... I used to use maxlife however I haven't in a long time and with the stash I've got I doubt I'll try it anytime soon.

IIRC the Maxlife variant was more at my local Wally's.

I'd use it if it was priced competitively.

I did today while at AAP(advance auto parts) see the NexGen in quart bottls for 3.19 a qt reg price. They didnt have much in the way of 5qt jugs though. Guy I know who is good on parts and machine shops and help said they sold a ton of the stuff so far. I would've grabbed some but for what I got I was happy. He said in 6 days all valvoline stuff was going on SALE. I plan to buy maybe 5 qts of the stuff and report a used oil analysis. Stay tuned.

It was $17.88 for the 5 quart at my local; I have the $10 off Valvoline mail-in coupon. Wanted the DuraBlend but they didn't have any.

The only place that sells 5-qt jugs is Walmart. Everywhere else sell either 4-qt or 5 liters(5qt+).

at that price difference i would use it, my issue is it being the same price as virgin.

I have only looked at the price for that stuff during one short time period when I was out looking for some full synthetic MaxLife( never did find it anywhere ). I looked in Walmart, AZ, AAP, PB, and local parts stores. I was looking around as said for the FS ML so I went everywhere. While I was looking for that oil I checked out the prices on other oils while I was out.

Around here they are selling it for more than the new stuff. I am serious. Any place I saw it was charging more for it. I ended up getting the MaxLife blend and it was cheaper than the recycled Maxlife.

I am guessing living in the NE in the world of the liberal tree huggers they might be trying to see if they can get more for it with a "greenie" mentaility so prevelant here? The only way I would use it( and I am a Valvoline fan overall )is in a beater vehicle and if it was a LOT cheaper than a new bottle of the same variety.

Same price around here. It's funny how they are marketing it though. In my "yuppie" neighborhood Walmart they have tons of it, both conventional and Maxlife, in qts and jugs. At the Walmart by my work, more rural, they only have a small section for the conventional, on the top shelf and only in qts.

As long as it's the same price as virgin Maxlife I'll continue to buy it. If it becomes more expensive, I'll go with the virgin stuff.

Well I will say this; I was in Wal Mart this mid morning after helping a friend do both tie rods and ball joints on his quad 4 grand am, and the wal mart had 5qt jugs and qts of NexGen there. Not much left and at Wal Mart, qt bottle was like $4.15, and I didnt or dont recall how much a 5qt jug was. Valvoline regular max life was on clearance at both ends of the isle at $15 for 5qt jug. Also to anyone who is in the Pittsburgh PA area here on BITOG; my local advance had on clearance Formula Shell SAE 30 and HD 30 Formula Shell, and it was $2.99 a qt! I grabbed 2 qts of SAE 30 for my dads mower.
