I found this gem through a buddy of mine, and I think it's going to be a home run. It's a 2014 Chrysler 200S, 3.6 with 153k miles. Triple black with the sunroof and touchscreen radio. The PO stopped driving it due to the transmission going in to limp mode and they didn't want to deal with replacing the transmission given the higher miles and whatnot.

When I first looked at it, I scanned it and the only transmission codes were electrical codes. Nothing about slippage, nothing about shift errors. The 62TE is a very smart transmission, if there was a real issue with the mechanicals it would have thrown a code. After clearing the codes, the transmission shifted perfectly for about 5 minutes until it warmed up then it would go into fail-safe mode.

Fast forward to this week, I ordered an OEM solenoid pack and replaced it. The transmission now shifts perfectly. Other than that, it needs 2 tires and rear pads and rotors, and I've got to figure out the P0455 code it threw, but otherwise it's a solid car. Best part? It cost me $1,200. All said and done, I might be in it for $1,700. In today's market it's worth $6-6,500. All in all not a bad score!

I would say that you scored big time given it has a clean title. The market is outrageous right now with most vehicles going 1-2,000 above clean wholesale at auctions in my area, and that's with them requiring a bit of work done.

I love these cars, just watch the torque steer! It’s also the only car I’ve been in that could/would chirp the tires shifting into 3rd gear.
It's hilarious how much power this thing has. 290 horse and V6 torque in a 3,400lb car. I would have loved to have been in the meeting when they decided to use that engine. "Hey, you think we could fit the 3.6 in a Sebring?" "Well, I suppose... but is that necessary?" "Bah, who cares. Just do it!"

True, while much heavier, my grandma’s 14’ Grand Caravan honestly has too much power.

However, my grandpa’s 14’ Grand Cherokee I’m not too impressed. It’s just adequate.

I think that’s mostly the AWD system causing that feeling coupled with more weight. My 300 felt like it had just the right amount of power, but the AWD model with AWD engaged felt totally different and not as powerful, it didn’t have quite the same “push” feeling as it did when it was in RWD.

Can confirm about the van though... I stepped on it pulling out onto the highway from a car wash today and it just lit up the drivers side tire. My wife was not happy... my sons were grinning ear to ear!

When my commuter car ever goes to the graveyard, the 200 w/ Pentastar is high on the list of possible options to replace it with. I love the style of these cars, and near-300hp in a small-ish sedan makes it a winner. Unfortunate they don't come with a standard transmission though.

FWIW my moms 2013 200S, and I don’t know if hers is a fluke or they all do this, will let you put it in whatever gear you want and try to accelerate WITHOUT kicking down into a lower gear. Like any car, it’s not happy if you put it in 6th and try to take off.
