But wouldnt you want the game drives to be SSDs too, so that any info needed could load faster?

I keep specific games on my game SSD. Like my extremely heavily modded Skyrim, which pulls about 3.5GB of RAM plus a full 3+GB of VRAM. Most games don't really need or benefit much from an SSD, the load time benefit is extremely low on a lot of games. Plus, SSD storage is still relatively expensive, 1TB SSDs cost more than I'm willing to spend, and again at this point for most games the load times aren't drastically improved on them.

Which is why the video card is typically the single most expensive item in a gaming rig.

Even so, you can't really neglect anything. Like Nick pointed out, spending 15 minutes loading textures and mods for a game before you even begin playing isn't a very fun experience... so you add an SSD. Not really necessary, but it makes the experience better.

Here's another crazy scenario (This was from a recent article in Anandtech comparing $800 builds). Too much GPU and not enough CPU:

The Crucial build uses a less powerful GPU and a more powerful CPU. The Silverstone build, with it's better GPU, posts a better average frame rate... but it drops down to single digit FPS at times, making the game unplayable. This is because the CPU can't feed instructions to the GPU fast enough. The GPU is literally sitting there, doing nothing, while the CPU figures out what's going to happen next.

Not a common scenario, but not a situation you want to find yourself in.
