On new VW vehicles is the OEM oil filter the way to go or is there a preferred brand?

I ask because VW is a new experience to me. Price seems to be about the same as the rest.

I'd use Hensgt, Mahle, Mann or OEM.

My wifes Audi OEM oil filter is made by Mann. W719/45. Advanced Auto stocks it in store but at the highest price. The OEM is $13.08 at my Audi dealer which the parts guy tapes a crush gasket on the box for free.

That helps me not very much. Page 93-95?!?!

If it's a cartridge filter application, I'd lean to OEM first. Fit is a major consideration with cartridges and OEM has or should have that covered. That said, if someone has personal experience and good results with an aftermarket, then ok.

If it's a standard spin on type, then no problem going with an aftermarket, especially from a well known manufacturer.

For the 2.0 in the Atlas the OEM matches the Mann 6013z almost exactly. I used OEM on the first change but will resume with Mann after my dealer complementary services are complete.

That is the same model # for the Arteon.
