Last week i asked about the A/C delco e cores but today i am curious how about the regular a/c delco PF52 or PF61 oil filters. i have a bunch of them also. I see the oil holes on the A/C delco oil filters are smaller than the purolator. What is everyones opinion on them?

I saw a few of the OLD Delco Oil Filters are Walmart today and there is a such a big differnce....

I guess G.M / DELCO figured if they could save .50 cents a Oil Filter that would end up being big $ at the end of the year.

I remember when Champ labs went to the E cores...they claimed it was an equal or better filter than before (salesspeak) and that while the can and filter element were smaller,it did a better job of filtering.Sounded like cost cutting to me...less paper, less metal...more profits.

The non-ecore Delcos should be roughly equivalent to a Purolator classic. However, Purolators are less expensive.

Seems to me if they were to tweak the plastic cage by making the holes smaller, the problem would be solved. It's not a bad design.

Can't be any worse than the OCOD.

I remember that too ... then it just took some real use time and some people cutting them open to reveal how junky there really were. Now ecores have a bad reputation, at least on BITOG.

And yes, if they just make the center cage windows smaller and put more pleats in so they can't fold over, then the ecore design should be fine. All cartridge filters are essentially "ecores".

Both of my GM apps aren't an e-core, so they don't bother me.
