Laser fired engine ignition

Sounds interesting. Obviously the trickiest issue would be keeping the lens clean. But the benefit would be in focusing the ignition deeper into the chamber. Possibly also varying the ignition point. Plus making ignition independent of spark plug effects such as electrodes cooling the flame.

I think the Laser only focuses at a specific point. Likely in the middle of the gas mixture.

Same in laser aided lithography maybe hotter though. I will read the article later.
