I am triing to find a larger filter to replace the Purolator L14670. This filter is used in Dodge motors for everything from 2 Liter motors to there new 5.7 liter and even there 10 cylinder engines. It is only about 2/3 the size of the filter in my Ford 5 liter the FL1A (motorcraft).

Thanks

If there's room, you need look no farther than that Motorcraft FL-1A or equivalent. Same threads, gasket identical or close enough.

Not quite enough room for the old std. Ford filter? There's an in-between length used on many Chrysler products years ago. Sorry, I only know the Fram # for this one- PH-43.

Stuart's exactly correct the FL1A and equivalents have the same threads, gasket, bypass valve relief etc.. If you have room for it you can also use the Wix 51773 and equivalents as this filter is 7" long and holds a quart of oil itself!! It's the monster of all filters.

Thanks for all the info. I was sure I had asked this question before but couldnt find it. I think the FL1A will fit. I will just have to tilt it a little to slip it past a brace as long as I can get my filter wrench on it to take it off, which I will test as soon as I put the new one on rather than waiting till it gets real tight with use and then find out the wrench wont go on.
