Larger filter for a 2.5L Subaru Outback??

FYI...there are different Subaru filters...

I bought the 51356 as the larger filter...my car calls for the 51334. This picture explains everything...

Think it would be safe for me to use that 1356 on my Acura? It calls for the 1334 (like most Honda/Acura) and that's what I've been buying, but if the top filter is better I'll buy that next time and give it a shot.

Look pretty close to me...I ran the 51334 because it was physically larger (significantly)...
 
51334 is 50% @ 20 micron and slightly better than 95% @ 40 micron.

51356 is 50% @ 20 micron and slightly better than 80% @ 19 micron, which makes no sense to me how a smaller micron can have a better efficiency (multiple pass?).

This was taken straight from Fleetguard...Beta = 2 is 50%, Beta = 5 is 80%, and Beta = 20 is 95%.

They are both 19 micron nominal, so probably no significant difference.
 
I've got an '05 WRX STi on which I've always run a Purolator PL14610. Purolator calls out the 14612 for this application, and the difference is only in the length of the filter. Without measuring I'd say the capacity is about 20% greater in the '10 than the '12.
