Has anyone ever used this WIX oil filter for the KA24E? It looks good to me, even allowing me to use 4 quarts of oil instead of 3.5. Calculated volume as .79 quarts as opposed to .48 quarts for the 51361 and .56 quarts for the 51516. I quess the only concern is a clearance issue, it's dad's truck so I don't have constant access to it to check. Seems to be a little larger than the OEM 15208-55Y00.

WIX: 51068
Height: 4.338 in
Outside Dia: 3.660 in
Thread: 3/4-16
Bypass: 8-11 psid
ADBV: Silicone
Gasket:
OD: 2.834 in
ID: 2.462 in
Thick: .200 in

What do you drive? I have a 94 2WD Truck with that engine, and with the stock fiter it holds 4.1 quarts. You must have a 4WD, no?

Anyway, on these trucks, I've found it's best to stick with the stock size filter. As you may already know, these filters are not the easiest in the world to get at, and a bigger one would only make the job that much harder. Besides, the stock size filter for these engines is plenty big enough already.

Oh, and I see the Wix filter you posted has a ADBV in it. These engines don't require one, but it won't hurt anything to use a filter that has one.

My truck has this engine.

I have seen posted on various message boards over the years that a Motorcraft FL-1A will work, which would definitely qualify as "oversized," to say the least.

I've never personally tried it, so take it for what it's worth.

FL-1A = wix 51515

Buy all three Wix filters and return the two you don't need. Hopefully the biggest one fits!
