I was re-organizing a few tools boxes and came across my two large Crescent wrenches made by Motomaster. The 15” one was definitely the way to go on Chevy truck tie rod ends.

I use my 18 and 24 often to spread frame tabs like for transmission xmembers, shock mounts and control arm brackets. Then let the bolt suck it closed again.

I'm done trying to fight new bushings into size-for-size or worse.

I try to use the correct size open end on tie rod flats, but an all-sixteenths can work in a pinch.

Am I the only goober who uses a huge pipe wrench?
I have several pipe wrenches, and they’re great for grabbing a cylindrical part, shaped like, well, a pipe.

But for bending a flat part, a big adjustable is really useful. It grabs more of the part, and applies the force over a larger area than the anvil of the pipe wrench.

I keep several “Crescent” wrenches around…

On the flats of a hex? Maybe

I use a pipe wrench on the round stock of tie rods and sometimes adjusting sleeves but a pipe wrench can have the Chinese finger trap effect and close the sleeve down tighter on the threads. In those cases I use the dedicated hook style crowfoot
