I'm looking to replace my 7 year old Lenovo laptop which has been very reliable. I work at home 2x a week and use two screens as it sits next to my HD widescreen monitor.

I don't want to spend more than $1,000.

What I am looking for is:

Good screen resolution for streaming Netflix and work
Reliability
Gaming but nothing crazy

The Acer Nitro 5 seems decent for $700.

I only use my laptop for internet and work where we log into Citrix.

Thank you

I just replaced my work laptop with a Lenovo A580. I do Accounting so the number pad on the side is great, plus plenty of USB ports for extra screens and the like.

Highly recommend Lenovo. Since you're going to do some gaming I'd look into one of their models with a decent video card.

Whatever laptop you purchase I highly recommend you get one with a SSD and not HDD.

Be careful what you buy if you plan on streaming Netflix 4K from a laptop. Many laptops will not allow streaming Netflix in 4K.
Something to do with the 10 bit codec and HDCP 2.2.

a local computer repairman + builder noted computer manufacturers all buy internals from wherever + assemble them adding their brand name. i prefer thicker laptops that are easier to work on + can run cooler because theres more air circulation in them. the fastest hard drives have the shortest life as the afore metioned heat is a killer. never cover the fan intake + outlet on a laptop for longer life!!

What do you think of this laptop? It seems like a good value. Do you think reliability would be an issue?

I buy refurbished computers from a local shop here in Lincoln ne called "Level 7 computers" they always have desktops and laptops that they rebuild with new parts and they sell for about 1/2 of new. I have a custom pc tower from them a sony Vaio laptop and a Dell laptop. Had them all for going on about 7 years with no issues. All have 4 gb ram which is more than enough for net flix or you tube. We do not game so might not be enough for gaming. Laptops cost $175 each and we paid $300 for the pc tower and another 100 for a used 22 inch monitor. I doubt if I will ever buy a brand new computer.
