Does anyone use lanolin grease as a lubricant, versus as a rustproofer? I saw that small tubes are sold at mcmaster carr...
 
Yeah, its use in nursing is a good one. Fluid film is a good example.

Even that link really seems to emphasize the anti-corrosive aspect.

Is there an application where a bearing or sliding surface is coated with lanolin vs. something else for lubrication? Maybe food grade applications?
 
Lanolin Grease is a very thick and tacky grease that have load capabilities which are not wash out under any conditions, from underwater to general usage. It should be apply with a paintbrush to get heavier protection.
