Lentils, sour k-r-a-u-t (that word is censored on this board) and Kransky sausage....that's gotta be a good breakfast

You got me mixed up with an Eastern European. I've eaten lentils maybe twice in my life, I don't care for k r a u t, and I have no idea what Kransky sausage is (Polish?). I'm fond of Bavarian (apart from the k r a u t), Austrian, Swiss, and French cuisine. I'm a Western Euro food snob!

How can I relate all this to Lance Armstrong? My Gary Fisher mountain bike was stolen.

Lentils certainly are a part of the diet where I come from (shock horror, I am European myself

). Kransky is Polish. I don't care much for Bratwurst...I think that's German.

I've never cared for any wurst - brat, liver, blood, wiener, or dog.

I'm more of a bread and cheese and schnitzel guy.

Fermented cabbage and lentils for breakfast?

There would be no need to pedal - just let 'em rip.

And dayuum - that would mess up a P test, too!

(Weisswurst is pretty good, mori.)

Jagerschnitzel. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Pscholte, want to go get some schnitzel from Uwes or the Edelweiss?

Veil brauts are extra tasty too.

Then, your statement of "negative test doesn't really mean much these days." Really? All you do with your post is prove 59 Vetteman right.

Maybe your countyman Jan Ullrich will win again. Maybe not. It's not the "state of sports" which is the problem. It's small minds.

Is it nationalism that makes you react so strongly that you must make a personal attack on anyone who shows the slightest amount of skepticism about Armstrong? I wonder about this because I fail to see why you make the Ullrich comments.

Ullrich, huh? You really think that people are "jealous" that an American did so well in the tour? Perhaps some people are, but that has nothing to do with my comments. My countryman Ullrich? I am an American citizen.

No personal attacks made. Clearly, if negative tests mean nothing, then why have tests at all? Your view seems flawed.

Skepticism is healthy, if done with evidence. To date, the evidence is very weak and from sources with interests. I just disagreed with your comments. One can be a citizen and from another country. I don't think I commented on jealous.

"Small minds" is not a personal attack?

Why have tests at all? Because of the belief that performance enhancing drugs should not be allowed. Does it always work? No.

Steve, I am being very logical. The negative tests don't mean much because the cutting edge performance enhancing drugs are designed so that they are NOT detected by current testing methods. The drug labs attempt to stay one step ahead of the tests. EPO for example - in 1999 it wasn't as easy to test for it, but now it is. Labs make something new, and athletes move on to the new drug. THG produced by the BALCO well reported example of this.

I believe that the use of performance enhancing drugs is present in all major sports. Baseball has received much attention lately, but it is everywhere: Football, Ice Hockey, Track & Field, Soccer, etc....

Ironic that you mentioned Ullrich since he was, in fact, banned and fined for drugs use. Drugs that he claimed were taken to help him recover from a knee injury.

Nothing to do with Armstrong personally, I just have little faith in the honesty of most professional athletes.

Jeffrey:

I really don't wish to argue anymore. I will just say we see things differently. "Small minds" dealt with a colloquialism further supported by your statement "little faith" ie, you see the negative, the bad, jaded view, hence the small minds comment, not an ad hominum attack. If you took it as such, I did not mean it as such and apologize for any misunderstanding.

I could be very wrong and most athletes do cheat. You could be very right.

Just in Armstrongs case, I see the evidence, so far, as weak. You have already asserted your bias in the honesty of "most professional athletes". Is this really fair? Only you can answer that for yourself.

Ullrich is supposed to be a really nice guy though so he gets points for that!

Sorry to all for being off topic.
