How will the MC support less wear on your application if you don't mind me asking?
Lamborghini Murcielago Oil Change

Here is my last UOA as previously posted:
This is a 2004 Lamborghini Murcielago, delivered Jan ‘04. It is reported to be delivered with Agip 5W-40 synthetic oil. About 2 months after delivery at 575 miles I changed the oil to 0W-30 Mobil 1. There was a valve click that disappeared and the whole engine got quiet after this first oil change. Unfortunately I tore the aluminum dry sump oil tank while trying to pry off the drain plug. It was repaired with adhesive.
In Dec ‘04 I had the dealership replace the oil tank and lines (a big job) while the car was also in for some other warrantee tweaks. The car mileage was 2,700 at that time. The oil was changed with the 0W-30 again. After driving 300 miles and again after adding 900 more miles I tested the same oil (two left columns).
___Mobil 1 with 300 miles ___with 1,200 miles. (This oil was dumped at 4,200 total car mi.)
___The last column (right) is Red Line 5W-20, put in when the car had 4,200 mi. and at this analysis has 6,200 mi.

The car now runs even more quite in terms of engine noises but I am concerned about the iron and lead wear rates. Terry Dyson said it looked fine with the Red Line and just wanted me to change the air filters. I?did this.
We will see what the second run of Red Line does in a few more months. I will send in for another UOA and then decide whether to use the same oil or go to Motorcraft. One thing is that I know this engine will be clean and should have been from the start. It should be broken in well. And I want to experiment some. It is what I do.

Dr. Haas, I don't see what the problem is? Pb and RL go hand in hand and I've been told it's nothing to worry about. It's just RL reacting with the bearing overlay. Why don't you call Dave and ask to speak with Roy Howell. In fact, send them your report. Dave will look at it for you for free. They are very nice there and welcome any issues you have.

It is 3 years old and she loves it. She drives it at least twice a week.

A couple of years ago if fleet service we replaced M1 5w-20 with MC 5w-20 and had good results. We made the switch based on price but found out that for warranty runs of 5k that MC was at least as good and often performed better. I don't know what is so special about the oil but it's at least a good performer in this situation. I have no idea how it would compare in longer runs and we will never have an ocasion to find out.
I run RL 5w-20 in a Prius and plan to continue. It gets 5k oil and filter changes. I do use a M1 oil filter, the large M1-209.
It would be interesting to see what temps you get when warmed up as compared with your previous oil.

How in the world do you know that your engine is broken in with so few miles on the clock (6,200)? You have no way of knowing, since you change oil and oil types so often to even be able to interpolate or extrapolate the data, along with varying sample and change intervals.
Also, do you have any explanation for fuel dilution going from 1% to 2.5% to 0% over three OCIs?

Actually my wife will notice things as engine sounds or tire pressures even before I would. She is very particular. Although she may not be able to get the car up on the lift exactly right she can certainly change the oil by herself. She is a do-it-yourselfer in many ways.
One of my concerns is that she will notice something if I change to Motorcraft.

I don't really see the purpose in changing from the Redline, unless, as you mention, it is for experimentation. But honestly, I sort of cringe at the thought of experimenting with a Murcielago when you have something working well already, but that's just me. I'm very happy with Redline in both my cars (which are not nearly so special).

As good as your explanations are, isnt your situation very much the same, particularly w.r.t. Fe and oil type changing?

G-Man is right. And as much as I like my skanky little Toyota, it is incredibly boring in comparison. I look forward to hearing about Dr. Haas's vehicles.
