Lack of AM Radio ...

The Day the Music Died was February 3, 1959. Here's a photo of me taken at the site where their plane crashed in an Iowa cornfield during a snowstorm.

If you ever have an opportunity to visit the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, I suggest you do it. That's the venue where Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper played their final gig. I swear the place is haunted by them to this day.

Years ago myself and a coworker got to see The Buddy Holly Story (Victoria) in London …
Those guys did a fantastic recreation …

1st time to listen to local AM on a midsize portable radio I heard Rick Derringer - " Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo " , Edgar Winter -" Free Ride " , Steely Dan - " Reelin' In the Years " and many other songs . Was 15 or 16 back then . Been hooked on R 'n' R since then .
Traffic - Dear Mr. Fantasy and Grand Funk - We're An American Band were others that caught my ear .

Will the last "mature person" turn off the radio when the A.M. band dies. I think the (talk radio) demographics that cater to a certain voter block is getting older by the day......
