L83 AFM Delete

Sounds good.I was going to reuse the high pressure fuel lines but was unsure if i should loctite them and what torque spec i should use or if it’s a nono?

If the tight spot is down at the roller....I wouldn't worry about it.
Well i got it fired up and it seems to idle nice. It’s showing code 0300 for random misfires but it doesn’t sound like it’s missing.I filled the oil pump before i installed it and filled the filter and i was some surprised how fast i had oil pressure.I sure appreciate the guidance you have given me.

L8T 12672469 is a good stock AFM delete camshaft for a L83, And it's cheap.

I recommend......

Is the L8T cam good for a dod delete in the L86?

@clinebarger is an L8T cam good for a DOD delete on an L84 also? If there cheap and available not, might not bad a bad idea to grab one and keep it for future.

Also, would you know if the L84 has similar bearing clearances to the LT1 in a 21-23 Camaro SS? My moms calls for 0W-40, and if so that’d allude to a newer L84 being fine on 30wt… etc.

L8T cam works great in DFM L84's.

Bearing clearance specifications haven't changed much in 50+ years, Machining Tolerance have improved. No reason you couldn't run a 30 weight.

Trying to follow up on a couple forums that i have posted in and i wanted to give an update on my L83 delete as per clinebarger's advice.I have a year on it and its running strong.i get 20 mpg (imperial lol)driving backroads to work and never checked it on a trip but its better than that for sure. Now for the test of towing.I have a tow behind 31 ft camper made in Canada in 2001 with hardwood floors and although well made its heavy as hell(11500 lbs water full and camper stocked).Another500- 600 lbs in the box with generators tools ect while travelling to tractor pulls. We usually tow with a duramax but it was down all last summer with a no start issue so this honey got a working.Well was i surprised as it did this all summer and i watched the temp guage hard as some of the hills we usually climb would make the duramax needle climb some and this 5.3 temp guage hardly moved.I run 70-75 mph always and when it dropped into 4th on a hard hill it set itelf in at 4000 and pulled strong.Helped another guy this winter with all the advice and parts list clinbarger gave me and his is a success also.Somebody had posted on here that this would make me a good runner and he was 100 percent correct.I just thought i would put this out there in case someone was on the fence on doing this delete and wondering how it would perform in average daily driving and towing conditions.
