Kumho KR-21

Does anyone have any experience with Kumho's "NEW" KR-21 tires? These tires according to kumhousa.com have only been out for about a year. I have also called their toll free number. I have read the reviews on the tirerack.com and they show very favorable just like the KH-16 (in which I was first interested in). From my understanding, the KH-16 are going to be discontinued but Im not sure if they are going to be replace by something else or if the KR-21's *are* the new replacement.

But, anyway! The KR-21's are now my tire of "interest" here and I'am looking for a little more feedback than the tirerack reviews have provided. These are 225-70-16 for my wifes Lexus RX-300. The tirerack represenative says that the best bang for the buck for my Lexus is the Firestone Destination LE but, according to the reviews for RX-300/Highlander, the Firestone Destitnation LE's will be a little noisier/firmer than Im looking for in this application. I currently have GoodYear Integrity's on the car now and they are smooth, quiet and long lasting but thats it! They're terrable in the wet and just going around turns at slow speeds and they track poorly on the highway and have always been this way even when new. Im looking for smooth/quiet, longevity and better handling with a wider stance(brouder shoulder) than the Integrity's. These Kumho KR-21's sound like the exact tire that Im looking for especially for the price but I'd appreciate some extra feedback. I can't find a KR-21 localy in a 225-70-16 so that I can take a look at it before buying. That "wide shoulder" look is also very important to me because I don't want a tire that looks too skinny on the car. Any info is welcome both positive and negative. No sarcasism please.

Personally, I'd consider the General Altimax RT or the Toyo Versado LX over the Kumho. The Altimax is an extremely light tire (according to the General website) which should increase your MPG and acceleration.

I'm looking at the Altimax for my car (separate thread). Any experience with them? Everything I can find indicates mostly very satisfied customers.

Been selling the Kumho KR21 for a few months now with NO complaints. Easy balance. Personally really like tires "looks".

Thanks for your recomendation but, neither one of the tires that you recomend comes in my size, 225-70-16. May have considered them otherwise.

Satisfied customers(as you stated about the Altimax) is always a good sign for a tire purchace. Price is another. The Kumho KR-21(in my case) seem to show very satisfied customers and a good price to boot.

Thanks for the comment. I have read on other reviews that the KR-21's balance very eaisly. Said by tire installer to a customer on the tirerack review. I beleive this it the way to go for my application.

I've had the KR-21's on my Mitsubishi Endeavor for about 500 miles. So far I would say that they are excellent tires for the money. I've run them through snow, ice and rain (gotta love Minnesota in the spring time). They handled very well in all situations, even going 70mph through slush on the highway. I would definately recommend them.

The Kumho's that I've used in the past have all been excellent tires but I've decided, like my engine oil, to stick with a certain brand and forget about it....Michelin's and Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30

I agree with using popular brand name tires but, coinsidently I have four vehicles that all need tires over the next couple of months, which is the first time that all of my vehicles need tires at the same time. Usually it's one year after another for tires. So, Im just going to have to take it on the chin which is why Im looking for really good tires with good reviews for a better price than I usually do.

I have the Kumhos on my wifes RX330 and they are the very best tire for the $$ IMO. Excellent quiet ride and were tested twice by the wife in freezing rain last Winter and held out. Will definitely buy again!

The more I read and hear about the brand[KUMHO]the better I feel about my decision especially with the KR-21's. I have placed my order(tires are on back order), Im just waiting for an email.

I'll be looking to see if they make a size for my Yukon at the end of the year. I passed on them for my daughters Honda for a set of Yokohamas which I now regret as the Yoks are very noisy.

lol in my previous post about geting tires for a corolla i was shot down for saying kumho kr21's bc i currently have kuhmo power stars and they SUCK!!!!! i hate those tires but it does seen that the kr21's are much better. they are rated much better atleast

Well after owning several sets of Michelins which rode nice but had poor treadwear I finally decided to try different tires. Sure am glad I did because the Kumho's were half the price and should last as long since the longest set of michelins was 31.5k which really sucks for almost $200 each. The wife said what's the difference? I said with these Kumho tires we can save enough for you to get a new complete outfit and we can go out to dinner twice. That decision took like .0005 nano seconds to make.

I think that Kumho is the tire company to watch these days. People may laugh now but, they make a good tire with some nice reviews and a very attractive price. I beleive that Kumho will only get better as time goes on kind of like Hyundai. I can see that it won't be long before there is one in my garage.
