Exactly. The bases are from the last century. In Europe we're 'protecting' from an enemy that has not existed in 20 years. In Japan the US is borrowing money from China and Japan to keep a base in Okinawa.The people there want us to leave. It's way past time to close them all.


There was a wikileaks document that showed that we still have tactical nuclear weapons in Germany and Turkey. See paragraph 8 in 09BERLIN1433 cable.

I wouldn't get that extreme but I think a 10-20% budget cut to the DoD would be good start. China is now tied to the US by economic MAD, and it seems the US has let China have Africa's natural resources, so keep enough stuff to level Iran (if needed) and that's about it...
