I recently noticed these thin-walled Koken Impact Sockets. Does anyone know if they are sold in a set?

Their size profile does appeal to me - and may justify their price.

For example, if you compare their 10mm's hex-end diameter to the Snap-On's chrome and impact options:

Snap-On 3/8" deep chrome socket: 14.3mm
Koken 3/8" deep thinwall impact: 14.8mm
Snap-On 3/8" deep impact socket: 15.9mm

They're pretty thin, almost chrome socket thinness. Their 3/8" deep impact sockets are also a bit longer than most, but for me that is an advantage from a tool clearance standpoint.

With that said, does anyone own a set?

Thanks. Unfortunately, nothing for 3/8" - which is what I'm really looking for.

Figures. I just ordered a spark plug socket from them. It's amazing how hard it is to find a decent 14mm one with retention that is 6 point.

EDIT: Looks like it's not a sitewide 30%. The socket I ordered does not seem to qualify.

Here is the 3/8 set, with 80mm long sockets, thin wall

I bought the 3/8 drive impacts from Capri, the walls are thin and the overall quality looks good. Made in Taiwan, this their master set.

If you are not in a hurry, Amazon has the Koken 3726ZB-280 ratchet for $63.73. It is on backorder for 4-6 weeks, but can be much shorter (10 days) in my recent experience. Ships from Amazon-Japan for free. (The photograph on the Amazon page is not accurate).

Lately Amazon-US has been offering Koken ratchets at prices that are 40% - 50% of what Koken-USA charges.

Here are some more Koken ratchet bargains at Amazon, from a Nov. 20 post at Garage Journal:

Here are a few other Ko-Ken -ZB ratchets, close to if not cheaper than how much it'd cost buying direct from Japan (e.g. Rakuten). Bolded some of the ones I thought were really good deals if you're willing to wait a few weeks...

2725ZB-3/8-L160 - $51, 3/8" drive in 1/4" body, 160mm long
2726ZB-3/8 - $66, 3/8" drive in 1/4" body, flex head
2726ZB-3/8-L160 - $65, 3/8" drive in 1/4" body, flex head, 160mm long
3725ZB - $53, 3/8" drive standard
3726ZB - $60, 3/8" flex head
3725ZB-280 - $55, 3/8" drive, 280mm long
3726ZB-280 - $66, 3/8" drive, flex head, 280mm long (really good deal, but picture looks incorrect)
3725ZSB - $37, 3/8" drive, stubby
4725ZB - $55, 1/2" drive

Looks like I just missed it - now shows as unavailable. It's fine, I needed to cross the $199 threshold for Palmac anyway, and they are not charging tax.

I ordered one earlier this morning. Maybe I got the last one. But in a another month or two it may be back in stock at the same price.

Palmac is a good source for Koken (and Stahlwille) when you are getting free shipping from them. But if your order is under $200, shipping charges can be very high. On my last order from them ($36 for a pair of short 1/4" drive Stahlwille locking extensions), shipping charges for the small 1/2 lb padded envelope were $17, for UPS Ground.

The last time I ordered from Palmac, they charged $17 for UPS Ground shipping. Items were shipped using a small padded envelope by USPS. Probably $5 max. Order took several days longer than expected due to stalling at one of the postal hubs. I called Palmac about it, but they didn't seem to care. Hopefully others will have better experiences.
